Heights finance champaign il1/15/2024 ![]() ![]() Junior: Going to college at SIUC has been so wonderful. North Central is great place for anyone!. Additionally, North Central College it right next to Downtown Naperville which provides students with a great way to obtain jobs and get out and have fun! Finally, the sporting events are a lot of fun as you are able to interact with the team players and form deeper bonds with your peers. There are options for students interested in research to take part in research and gain that experience. They are flexible with hours and understand the responsibilities of a full time student. North Central also has many options for student, on-campus jobs. Having these relationships is great because you in turn understand the course material better, have options for letter of recommendation writers, and feel more connected to campus. It also allowed for the development of professor-student relationships. Senior: The small class size was extremely beneficial for me because I tend to get distracted in large class sizes so this allowed me to stay on top of my studies. However, if you live out of state, it’s better to live in Hewett-Manchester or Tri because they don’t close during breaks. Plus in the winter, it’s connected to a cafeteria, so you don’t have to go outside in the snow to get food. They’re dorms are bigger than the other two, Tri and Hewett-Manchester. But if you prefer space, and wish to live in dorms, Watterson is the place for you. There are numerous choices of student organizations in various subjects, from the environment, to sports, to Greek societies, religious, and even political, if you enjoy that, and many more! I would say that the food is better at Tri towers(one of the dorms), mostly because the athletes live there. Professors here are very friendly and willing to help in anyway they can. The campus grounds are pretty, especially in the heart of campus in the arboretum. Sophomore: At ISU you get a small town vibe, which I personally love about the campus and the town itself. As a Big 10 school with actual diversity, Illinois has it all. Classes can be challenging, but they prepare you for upper level courses and are a big part of the reason the school has such a good reputation. As a psychology student I would warn that certain majors require careful planning- especially anyone on a pre-health track- as classes fill up quickly or are only offered certain semesters. There is something to do any night of the week, and people willing to go with you. At the same time, everyone knows how to have fun- in or outside of greek life. Seeing this motivates everyone to be the best student they can be, and almost everyone I know is involved in multiple RSO's including professional ones. You are surrounded by people who are extremely dedicated, getting high GPA's while conducting research or securing competitive internships. The campus is a perfect blend of the, "work hard, play hard" mindset. Sophomore: I am so grateful for my experiences at Illinois. ![]()
